636 cm3 In-Line Four engine


The advantage offered by the new Ninja ZX-6R’s 37 cm3 displacement increase is significant for real world riding exhilaration. Increased performance across the rpm range is welcome when sport riding, both in the hills and on the racetrack. But increased low and mid-range torque also offers increased usability in everyday street-riding situations, like riding in stop-and-go city traffic, or accelerating to pass another vehicle on the highway.


Light handling, stability & chassis feedback


The base aluminium perimeter frame from the 599 cm3 Ninja ZX-6R offer a superb balance of flickable handling, mid-corner stability and an ability to change lines on command, coupled with excellent chassis feedback.

Complementing the base chassis’ nimble yet stable handling characteristics, revised caster angle and fork tube height, and a new steering stem oil seal all contribute to lighter handling.


Next-generation fork: SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston)


Combining the concepts of Showa’s SFF and BPF, this next-generation fork offers both racetrack performance and everyday usability. Like with the BPF, smooth action at the initial part of the stroke contributes to excellent composure under braking. Preload and damping (rebound & compression) are separated, facilitating suspension setup.

Spring rates and damping settings (for both the front fork and rear suspension) were chosen to maximise performance on winding roads, enabling riders to enjoy the Ninja ZX-6R’s sporty performance in a wide range of situations.

Efficient exhaust & short-style silencer


Joint pipes connect all four header pipes (previously, only 1-2, 3-4 were joined), contributing to increased low-mid range torque.

The exhaust pre-chamber makes efficient use of space, reducing exhaust noise and helping to minimise silencer volume, which contributes to mass centralisation.

The silencer’s triangular cross-section enables the requisite volume while ensuring a high lean angle and a compact image.
